Delivery Driver

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Formations Delivery Truck Drivers are responsible for transporting raw and finished goods to our customers. They will ensure products have reached their destination safely, accurately, and on time. Delivery Driver’s will be working in and out of their assigned branch and maintaining a working relationship with the Warehouse Team to successfully transport and complete orders. Provincial safety regulations and compliance will be held to the highest standard for Drivers. Our Delivery Driver’s will commit to providing our customer’s excellent customer service by showcasing professionalism and efficiency. This role will report to the Warehouse Foreman. This role will require deliveries to Vancouver Island 1-2 times per week when applicable. Possible overnight stays may be required depending on workload.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs daily truck inspections at the beginning of shift, daily inspections
  • Delivering products to local customers.
  • Delivering from Langley to Vancouver Island 1-2 times. The trip will be overnight depending on workload
  • Reports to customer’s receiving office to drop off paperwork and waits to be unloaded
  • Follow routes and time schedule
  • Stops at weight scales where applicable and follows the correct procedure
  • Ensures products are loaded in accordance with delivery schedule and truck capacity
  • Ensure cleanness of truck and complies with truck maintenance schedule to ensure the correct operation of their assigned delivery truck
  • Assists during inventory counts
  • Exceptional customer service skills required and good business etiquette
  • Exercises best OHS practices such as daily truck inspections and observes safety driving rules

JOB EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITION:

  • Driving Hours- Significant time spent on the road to meet delivery schedule for customers.
  • Schedule- Irregular, including early/late mornings/evenings. Meeting delivery schedule is crucial, so flexibility is necessary. Overtime may be required.
  • Physical demands- Ability to move and lift to 60 pounds.
  • Weather conditions- May need to work in various weather conditions.
  • Customer interaction- Must always present in a professional and positive manner when visiting customers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience driving a large truck (up to 5 ton) with automatic/ manual transmissions in short and long distance.
  • Hold at least a class 3Q with Airbrake endorsement.
  • Good driving record.
  • Proficient in operating a trailer.
  • Minimum age of 25 for insurance purposes
  • Willing to be trained to operate a forklift if required.
  • Knowledgeable on compliance and regulations for Truck Drivers in BC. (i.e., Logbooks, Inspections, road instructions, etc.)
  • Regularly required to walk; stand; sit; climb ladders with the ability to kneel, bend, squat, push, pull and reach above and below the waist.
  • Self-motivated and driven to continuously improve and add value to the organization.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Reliability and punctuality are a must.
  • Working knowledge of good OH&S practices is considered an asset.
  • Excellent English communication skills a must (written and verbal)
  • Excellent numeracy skills required.
  • Willing to be trained to operate a forklift if required.
